1938 cruiser help please

Post by kompost2 on Tue Apr 15, 2008 8:31 pm

Hi All
I have just registered because i have a 1938 Francis barnett cruiser of a mates ,that he wants me to get running and sort out for the mot.
I have/have had lots of british bikes but nothing like this ,i have never seen the miller dynamo/points thingy before(what is it called)
I am having a bit of difficulty getting a spark at the moment ,and a few problems with the wiring.
I don't know the history of the bike or when it was last running ,but at the moment i have no spark ,i have 6 volts both sides of the coil ,if i take the cap off the end of the dynamo/points thingy i have 6 volts there on the brass plate inside ,and on the centre outside ,but when i replace the cap i don't get 6 volts on the outside.I have tried another 6 volt coil but it's no different so i am assuming it is something to do with the points.
Also having a bit of difficulty with the ignition lighting switch wiring.
Also if i get it running where do i set the two stroke oil metering valve Has anyone got a wiring diagram or owners manual etc that they could email to me.
thanks in advance
